Most Effective Ways to Waste Time in Class

Not paying attention in class is an art form.
It requires great skill to seem to be fully engaged in front of a boring professor.  With the Internet being the vast wasteland that it is, it’s easy to find yourself on the wrong website during class. One wrong click and the professor knows immediately you’re not paying attention.
Have no fear, readers. I have spent countless of class periods researching the perfect websites to distract you during those pesky credit hours also known as “class.” I mean, it’s not like we are paying to be taking the class or anything…

Best Website to Seem Like You’re Furiously Typing Lecture Notes:

3rd grade typing class with a twist

I know what you’re thinking: really, Maggie? One of those Facebook games? Are you going to suggest Farmville next? Don’t worry, guys. I have spent hours on this game and I know it’s worth.

Pros: Addicting:  I just wasted 15 minutes of my time trying to beat my high score instead of writing this blog post.

Cons: Social embarrassment: If one thing comes up on your news feed that you just won the “MANIAC AWARD!” on a Facebook game, your social life is officially over. A word of advice: turn off the sound and hide the notifications. It’s for your own good.

Best Website to Seem Like You’re Laughing at your Professor’s Not-So-Funny Joke:

I'll have what she's having.

I have three words for you: You. Are. Welcome.

Pros: Inclusivity: This website makes us realize we are not alone in the world of awful iPhone autocorrects. (Sorry, Dad. Of course I’m not going to “be there in just a sex” It’s not my fault that the C and X are next to each other on my phone.)

Cons: Could Blow Your Cover: Some of these autocorrects will make you laugh way harder than necessary for a stupid professor joke. He knows he’s not that funny. So keep the chuckle to a minimum and bite your tongue.

Best Website to Waste An Entire Class Period On:

I'll take the shirt, you can keep the guys.

This website has a cult following and I have jumped on the bandwagon. It’s hard for Non-Chivers to understand why the website is so entertaining. Think of it as a smorgasbord of funny things: pictures, memes, stories, and much more, all there for your time-wasting enjoyment.

Pros: Never gets old: The Chive is updated at least 5 times a day with funny stuff. You could waste your entire morning class and have new material by your afternoon class.

Cons: PG-13: Sometimes you have to sacrifice cleanliness for humor. Be prepared for some bikini pics, but nothing too raunchy.

With my suggestions, wasting your parents’ money on a college education is as simple as point and click!

Until next time.
